    Open all year round, the Zoo can accommodate large events, such as birthday parties. Animals located at the zoo include the African elephant, Bengal tiger, cheetah, cougar, eland, percheron, plains zebra and much more. The animals consist of mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles and fish.

    Stones River National Battlefield

    The Stones River National Battlefield was the site of the battle between the Confederate and the Union army on December 31, 1862 to January 2, 1863. Today, this 600 acre (243 ha) battlefield consists of the Stones River National Cemetery and the Hazen Brigade Monument, which is believed to be the oldest, intact Civil War monument still standing in its original location. Besides engaging in Civil War history, visitors can birdwatch, fish, hike and bike in this park.

    Radnor Lake State Park

    Radnor Lake State Park is located in between Nashville and Brentwood and is one of the United States' largest designated state wilderness areas found in a metropolitan location. Boasting numerous trails, green spaces and water areas, the park lends itself for many activities, such as birdwatching, hiking, canoing and taking various programs. Picnics and pets are not permitted in the park because of the ecological damages they may incur.

    Centennial Park
    In 1897, Centennial Park was chosen as the site of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. Replications of many famous structures were built, including the Eiffel Tower and the Parthenon in Athens, Greece. Guided tours offer a unique glimpse into the city's past.

    David Crockett State Park

    David Crockett State Park is dedicated to one of Tennessee's most celebrated citizens. This park features a museum that celebrates the life and times of David Crockett. Recreational facilities are also available, including hiking trails, tennis courts and an archery area.

    Crokett Park
    Located in Brentwood, Crockett Park boasts many recreational and entertaining features. Sitting on more than 170 acres of land, it holds seven tennis course, eight ball fields, eleven multi-purpose fields, trails for hiking, an amphitheater, picnic shelters and a playground. Several historic homes are found close to the park.

    Belle Meade Plantation

    Built in 1853, the mansion is located on a thoroughbred stud farm and nursery. Also featured on the farm are an 1832 slave cabin, stables and carriage house. The plantation is open all year round and closed on major holidays. A cafe and museum shop is provided.

    Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art

    The botanical gardens are located on 55-acres. Also featured on-site is a learning center, which includes contemporary art, gift shop, workshops and a restaurant. Recently renovated are the color garden, water garden, seasons garden and the woodland sculpture trail.
